Kahlanie's Recount

I have been trying to work on my 'Past Tense' and make sure that my recount is interesting.

On a hot blazing Monday morning the bell rang like usual, ringing loud and clear as if it was demanding orders. All of us were rushing out to get our nutricious meals.

Another bell rang for play time. All I did was just stand there watching the kids play, it was very boring. Everybody was yelling in my ears and they got sore, it was like they wanted to explode.

The hand bell rang I said to myself "what a waste of time!". I slowly walked back to class, everybody else was running around screaming at the top of their voices. Suddenly I saw Miss G.....so I ran as fast as I could. I made it before the second bell rang.

Anita's Morning Tea Recount

Writing recounts can be challenging, however I have done very well using lots of my learning from last year and this year......I want to make my audience picture what I am experiencing.

Morning Tea time begane at the ring of the bell. Miss G quickly dismissed us as it was Morning Tea. My friends and I rushed to the corridor, grabbed our lunch and rushed outside.

The weather was extremely hot! As I sat down the seat was burning. If felt like I sat on an oven. I gently stood up and walked away. As I walked along to the tennis court sweat was dripping down from my forehead.

It was interesting to find little children shouting as if they were watching a baseball game! The game they were playing looked extremely exhausting. I stumbled to the senior park where there were children whose faces were lit with excitement. The ground beneath me seemed to disappear as I climbed up the bridge.

I sat there, staring at the pole in front of me. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I saw a blurry figure approaching me slowly. I felt as if I was being followed......the figure turned out to be Robert. He clearly asked me if I wanted to play with him. I gleefully took his offer. We walked slowly to the tennis courts.

Five minutes ticked by slowly. Suddenly I heard a faint ringing sound growing louder and louder. One by one, two by two people were departing the tennis courts.....not until then did I realise it was the end of morning tea. The electric bell shrilled confirming that it really was the end of morning tea time.

Welcome to 2010

We have had a wonderful start to our year and with 33 students in the classroom we are sure that we are going to have some awesome work coming out.
We would like to share with you one of the students writing about our first morning here at St. Pius and in Room 6.........

On a bright and sunny Tuesday morning I was walking up the hill thinking, "Who will be my teacher for today?"
Nervously I walked up the hill. Today St Pius X started school. I saw every bodies smiling faces. I was a Year 6 so Miss Gleeson was my teacher. We lined up in our old classrooms with excitement. We all sat nervously while we sang our school prayer.

Later, the audience remained silent as Mr Coakley read out the list of students in each class. At that instant Mr Coakley called out my name, I stood up and walked to where Miss G was standing. I was showing signs of relief.

We walked into the classroom and hung our bags up. We picked desks to which we were going to sit in. Each of us had received a book and a pencil. Miss G had told us to write a little paragraph about ourselves.

The hand bell had rung once again for morning tea. My feelings that I had were happiness for school, nervous because it was the first day and most of all excitement for what we have to look forward to in Room 6.
