Welcome to 2010

We have had a wonderful start to our year and with 33 students in the classroom we are sure that we are going to have some awesome work coming out.
We would like to share with you one of the students writing about our first morning here at St. Pius and in Room 6.........

On a bright and sunny Tuesday morning I was walking up the hill thinking, "Who will be my teacher for today?"
Nervously I walked up the hill. Today St Pius X started school. I saw every bodies smiling faces. I was a Year 6 so Miss Gleeson was my teacher. We lined up in our old classrooms with excitement. We all sat nervously while we sang our school prayer.

Later, the audience remained silent as Mr Coakley read out the list of students in each class. At that instant Mr Coakley called out my name, I stood up and walked to where Miss G was standing. I was showing signs of relief.

We walked into the classroom and hung our bags up. We picked desks to which we were going to sit in. Each of us had received a book and a pencil. Miss G had told us to write a little paragraph about ourselves.

The hand bell had rung once again for morning tea. My feelings that I had were happiness for school, nervous because it was the first day and most of all excitement for what we have to look forward to in Room 6.

Nice piece of writing Anasitasia. You really drew me in with your opening paragraph. I could just imagine what was happening and your description made it come alive. Well done. Mrs Burt

Hi Anasitasia, I really enjoyed reading your piece of writing about your first moments back at school for 2010. You decribed it really well, it seemed so real. It took me back many years to when I was in Form 2, waiting to find out who would be my teacher. All the other names had been called out and I was still waiting. I was feeling extremely worried, until finally I heard "Lynne Walker" and I jumped up, very relieved. So your story took me back, many years.

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the day when you heard what class you were in. I could feel your excitement and joy! That is what good writing does. It is able to convey emotions to someone who was not there. Well done. And thanks for sharing!
