Trip To My Dad's House

On a scary Friday night I waited impatiently for my dad as the night continued to get darker and darker.
You see I hadn’t seen my dad for a long time. My mum promised me he would come.

As the night continued to get darker I waited and waited till I couldn’t wait anymore, a shiny bright light shone somewhere on the road. A van was right in front of my house. I couldn’t wait as a man stepped right out of the van.

I recognized him at once, it happened be my dad. I went inside the van that was very long. I had started to eat with my dad’s family and the size of his family was huge. There were my cousin’s, Eddie, Tyra, Alisha, David, Liz and Samantha. I walked tiredly upstairs to sleep because I was so tired.

Next morning I had a lovely breakfast that had cooked eggs, tasty juicy bacon and yummy ham. I played “pool table” with my cousin Tyra. I lost halfway through the game because I shot the eight ball in the hole.

During the day, I went to the Westfield shopping mall, because my aunty needed to buy me a black-striped shirt. Next I found out that I had $20 dollar’s from my grandma and brought a silver light laser gun. The laser gun has special lights that you can see from over 5 metres.

When I got home I slept because I was so tired from all the walking.

It's French Time

We had to take someone elses storyboard and film what they had down, all in French. This was really hard as some people didn't have enough detail!!

French Conversation

We have been practising how to say our French words. We are still not fantastic but we are really trying.

Delicious Bonbons

We have been learning the French language and we have put our learning into a mini-movie......we had to design a storyboard using a particular script and then we swapped and filmed someone elses storyboard.

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

We have been using our writing time to write descriptive text. Our group has put together our writing into a movie to describe the staff and students of St. Pius X school.
Story boarding was definitely the hardest part of making this movie......but practise makes perfect.

Yummy Bonbons Mmmmmmm

We had to film our whole movie in French. This was hard but helped us to show all that we have learnt so far this year, especially our movie making skills.

Nervous But Fantastic

When I arrived at the Telstra Clear Stadium there were not that many kids at the stage door, but when I entered there seemed to be millions of people ready to sing. I saw Mrs Carter and some of the Choir people. The show was starting to begin I was getting nervous and
my heart was beating fast.
We all sat in our rows all the way from 1 to 12, there was different schools. The curtain started to open, it was bright and the crowed all screamed. My eyes where surprised but I was still was nervous. I saw Mrs G in the crowd and Mrs Bernade. The first song we sang was 'Oh What A Night' with Susanne Prentice. When we finished our first song the crowd clapped and wave.
The moment came for the soloists for 'Ben', Waterlily and Revina, it was perfect. It was time for the half time break, Susanne Prentice showed all of us a video.
When we saw Chris she said "wonderful, prefect now that’s what I want to see, smiles on your faces". When we started it was like the first half, I was nervous. The curtain opened and the lights shined in my eyes. The second half first song was 'Putting On the Ritz' and this cat came in a suit, he looked scared. Everyone was screaming like he was a monster. We all went through the songs
It was time to go home; we all went row by row. I went outside and I was waiting for Chris but it was too packed. I saw Chris with Ana and we all saw Mrs Tui and Mrs Williams. We caught up to Chris and headed straight to Chris and we got in the car.
That the best day of life.

Kids For Kids Choir

Just when the curtains opened everyone in the choir looked stunned when they saw their parents and all the other people. We all started with a song called “OH WHAT A NIGHT” then we sang a few songs. Suddenly I heard my name so I stood with excitement and then I began to sing “Ben”.
When I sang half of the song the crowd started to clap and I began to laugh with happiness, I was really proud of myself.
Just when Angelica stood up to do her part she felt stage fright, she sang “Some where over the Rainbow” which was Miss Gleeson best song ever. Angelica began to sing her song, she sang it and she made some of the people cry with amazement in their eyes. What a wonderful song.
Later on a cat came out of the back stage and the cat was so funny it made the people laugh and also the kids. We heard a name Timmy, he was funny and cool and he had problem with his teeth. His teeth stuck out and he couldn’t talk good, but he still could sing. In real life it was Susanne Prentice.
That was a big day.
The funniest part was when Susanne Prentice got dressed into a boy. The best part of the experience was when I sang in front of so many people.

Catholic School's Day

On Friday at 10.00am, St Pius X went to St Marks in Pakuranga, with St Patricks. St Pius students all got in the bus in the really cold weather.
At St Marks we were all excited and had to line up in the rain. I was sad because the concert was cancelled due to the terrible weather.
In the church, we had to wait for a while because the priest came late, so we had to practise a song. While we were singing we stopped and sang again and again and again. The priest arrived and we started the mass. First we sang the entrance hymn while the three priests were walking. Mass ended and the choir stepped up and sang 'Iparadisi'. All of a sudden St Patricks had to go. We all got divided into classes. Poni, Kahlanie, Saufoi, and I were in Room 12. When we got to Room 12 we ate our lunch and when we were finished eating, we played a game of speed. Mrs Pole came and said "Come on guys let's go." and we all went and said our goodbyes and then we went back to school.

The Fireman

The firemen saves lives of people and animals. They have helmets and a big red truck for the fire. They help if houses are on fire and have helped me in Tonga.

Everyday the alarm rings because of fires. The alarm calls to the truck to go out on the road.

Here comes the big man with the boots on his feet. One by one they jump down the pole and climb into the big red truck. They go down the road to the fire.

Firemen are important because without them, the fires would keep burning.

Mrs Bell

Mrs Bell wears glasses and has short hair and wears nice clothes.
Mrs Bell is a nice, happy and cheerful person in the office.
Mrs Bell will cheer you up and make you feel better and hug you until you are happy.
I like Mrs Bell because she is cool and funny at times. When she smiles she lights up the room. She is the caretaker of the office.
She is the best helper and she has a lovely and gentle heart, which shows when she helps others with her wonderful personality.

Our Skype Experience

In room 6 on Friday 5th June 2010 we had an experience with Skyping. All the students sat on the mat, watching the electronic whiteboard, except for Dorothy and Siliva who were representing room 6 on the webcam.

At first we couldn’t see Mr Ballew because his webcam wasn’t working for us, but suddenly it appeared. The class all greeted Mr Ballew from Seattle, Washington, USA. The presenters then asked our questions which we wanted answered because we needed information on how to film something backwards.

Room 6 are now going to use the information that Mr Ballew kindly gave us and try to attempt to make our own movie that looks backwards.

Agnes – This experience was fun, because we got to talk to someone from the other side of the world.

Lavinia – I felt scared because I thought we would have to postpone it again because his webcam wasn’t working.

Siliva – At first when I sat on the chair I felt really nervous talking to Mr Ballew on the webcam.

Phoenix – We had a wonderful experience with Mr Ballew from America.

Angelica – I felt excited because it was my first time skyping with my class.

Robertanna – I felt happy because our questions were answered to make our movie.

Nita – I felt happy because Mr Ballew was compassionate and gave us great answers.

Ofa – It felt quite unexpected for me to hear from someone from a different city.

Zephaniah – I felt excited when he contacted us for the first time through email.

Macjeva – It was cool listening to his voice because he has a different accent.

Daniel – I felt excited because he was telling us information of how to film backwards.

Emmanuel – I felt very shocked because it was my first time seeing someone from the other side of the world on a webcam.

A’Leina – Mr Ballew was patient with the webcam to work for us to see him.

Dorothy – I was shocked when Miss G emailed him because he might not have emailed back……..but he did.

Anasitasia – I was surprised that we actually could film backwards…….I didn’t think that you could, but you can.

Ilaisaane – I felt happy because he got in contact with us.

Sia – I felt disappointed at first because the webcam wasn’t working and then it appeared infront of us.

Miss G – I enjoyed seeing all the students getting the answers to their questions. Mr Ballew was very helpful and hopefully we can now make OUR movie.
